Nobody Does Drifting Better…
New 2016 NODRFT schedule released at NOLA Motorsports Park
NEW ORLEANS, LA – Drifting is fun. A lot of fun. Just ask any car buff. Now there’s even more reason to dare a little and take the thrill to new heights. NOLA Motorsports Park is excited to announce the 2016 NODRFT schedule.
Drifting is an extreme sport that takes years to master. NODRFT has been hosting drifting events at NOLA Motorsports Park since 2012, although thrill-seekers have been experiencing the rush of controlled chaos since 2003. “Back in the day, it was just a small group of guys who came together and started street drifting. It was the old Japanese videos like Video Option and Drift Tengoku that blew our minds as teenagers and sucked us into drifting. From there, we were hooked! As soon as we were able to buy ‘drift’ cars as underpaid teens, the only way we could try drifting was on the street. No sanctioning body knew what drifting was nor were they going to let a group of teenagers try drifting at their event. A decade later, after NOLA Motorsports Park’s grand opening, we sought the opportunity to host events regularly. We had a spot to host events regularly. Now here we are, drawing in drivers from all over the country. NODRFT is doing well and it’s more successful than we ever could have imagined,” says Dominic Favalora, NODRFT co-owner.
Drifting at NOLA Motorsports Park takes place on a 7-acre skid pad. The open blacktop is built for experienced and inexperienced drivers alike. The facility can host anyone who’s ever wanted to give drifting a try or improve their technique.
Each NODRFT event has a theme, usually mirrored by the festive Mardi Gras and traditional Japanese drift atmosphere of partying and fun. What better way to experience a car sliding sideways at 70 miles per hour, than in the city that thrives on bright colors, costumes, and larger-than-life parade laps at the start of every event?
Drifting is surging in popularity at NOLA Motorsports Park. Organizers nearly have to cap the sold out events, and in some case, turn people away. That’s even more reason why it’s important to register in advance. “A lot of car enthusiasts call ‘drifting’ the red-headed stepchild of motorsports. “It goes against what racing is supposed to be. We wouldn’t have it any other way.” says Favalora.
